EXTRA CREDIT: Heineken Ad

The Heineken ad shut that Kendal Jenner Pepsi ad down once and for all. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, go look it up. In my opinion, Pepsi’s ad was a great try, but failed to accurately and effectively show the real side of today’s real issues and accepting everyone for their religion, sex, and color. The Heineken ad shows numerous people with different views, skin tones, and sex. They are paired with others who are different from them.

That’s what it is in this country. Too many people are afraid of change. Whether it be gay marriage, the different color of peoples skin, or the simple fact some people just have the same political views. And you what know what? THAT’S OKAY. This ad showed me that even people with the most polar opposite views could get a long and at least talk about their differences over a beer.

This ad got me thinking about a term that we touched on in class; Political Polarization. Their were cases where one person was so far liberal and so far conservative that they didn’t even give the time of day to LISTEN to the other party. This ad showed that everyone could get along and talk over things that we disagree on. Heineken showed a simple gesture that everyone around the world could do and could benefit from.  With all of the chaos going on around the world, this implements the importance of letting others have their opinion on things, but able to talk about their differences on an understanding level.

I think that this ad definitely helped people around the world and also the Heineken as a company. It was effective and meaningful in all of the right ways.
